British Association for
Counselling & Psychotherapy
I am a qualified psychotherapeutic counsellor, specialising in and passionate about the treatment of eating disorders and body image disturbance. Although I have specialist qualifications in these areas I am skilled and experienced in working with a wide variety of problems and challenges that may be faced during the course of life. For more information about my work with people with eating disorders please see my dedicated website www.eatingdisorderspecialists.co.uk
I work with people as individuals and integrate a variety of counselling and psychotherapeutic
models in my work in order to best meet my clients needs; I also draw upon the use of the latest behavioural and positive psychology, ancient wisdom, mindfulness and creativity. My work is underpinned by the belief that given the right conditions people can heal and grow to fulfil their true potential.
People that have worked with me say that
they appreciate my personal qualities of compassion,
attentiveness, intuitive insight
and positivity.
I hold an Advanced Diploma in
Psychotherapeutic
Counselling and a further Masters
Degree in Working with People
with Eating Disorders
and Body Image Disturbance
from The Tavistock and Portman
NHS Foundation Trust.
I am an Associate Member of the
Tavistock Society of
Psychotherapists
and a member of the British Association
for Counselling and Psychotherapy, whose
guidelines for ethical practice I abide by.
I have a particular interest in working with the mind
body connection and have worked with Somerset
and Wessex Eating Disorders Association since 2005, most recently in the role of Clinical
Lead, holding responsibility for the supervision, leadership and clinical development of the service.
I am a visiting lecturer at Universities, where I teach sessions both for counsellors and for other professionals using counselling skills or knowledge of Eating Disorders.
For information on sessions and fees, please see my 'services' page or contact me for an informal chat.
